All my brushes are made from either squirrels or mongoose hair. The squirrel – galari or miniature painting brush – are commonly used by miniaturists in India and is the backbone of the craft. The hairs a of squirrels tail provide the basic tufts and once plucked are selected according to size and shape. The whole tuft is then placed within a metal holder or shaft and attached to a bamboo stick.
